China is firmly committed to economic globalization, free trade, and innovation-driven development, the Charge d’ Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, Mr. Lin Jing has said.

Mr. Lin made this known at the reception of 69th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China organized by the Embassy in Abuja.

“I would like to highlight that, against the backdrop of notable changes in the global economic and trade context, we are firmly committed to economic globalization, free trade, and innovation-driven development”.

Lin said the China’s economy has stayed on its track of steady progress, with growing new drivers and sound fundamentals.

He noted that over the past 4 decades, GDP of China has grown more than 200-fold to nearly 13 trillion USD 1n 2017, which accounts for 15% of world’s total saying that China’s total foreign trade volume has also grown more than 200-fold to 4.3 trillion US. dollars.

“Now China is the biggest trading partner to many countries and the biggest FX reserve holder in the world.
‘In the meantime, the poverty population in China has decreased by 700 million, accounting for two-thirds of the world's poverty eradication” he said.

Lin said that in the first half of this year, China’s economy expanded by 6.8%, staying within the medium-high growth for 12 quarters in a row.

He said that over 10 million urban jobs were created in the first 8 months of this year with unemployment rate kept at relatively low level of around 5%.

Lin revealed that over 18,000 new companies are set up on an average day, and large industrial companies have made good profits.

He maintained that new forms of consumption, such as information and green consumption have seen rapid growth, raising the share of consumption in economic growth to over 60%.

He assured on China working harder to advance reform and opening-up by further streamlining administration, work even harder on economic restructuring by encouraging businesses to transform and upgrade traditional manufacturing through harnessing new technologies and new business models, and work even harder to stimulate innovation by better protecting IPR and promoting innovation.

He said China will uphold a win-win strategy of open-up by opening wider and on all fronts, especially to Africa.

He described 2018 as being eventful for China and Africa based on the fact that FOCAC Beijing Summit was a great success and will elevate Sino-Africa comprehensive cooperative strategic partnership to a higher level.

He stated that China-Nigeria relations have always been a pace-setter for China-Africa overall solidarity and cooperation which have seen more and more Chinese investors expanding investments in Nigeria. ‘During the first half of this year, Chinese business sector has made 41million USD non-financial investment in Nigeria. Our Ambassador H. E. Dr. Zhou Pingjian advocated “made-in-Nigeria with China”, which perfectly fits the Situation in Nigeria” he said.
