Bribery video: Group blasts SERAP for calling for investigation

By Hassan Adamu

A civil society group, Peace and Anti- Corruption Advocacy has taken a swipe at the call by a pressure group- Socio- Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) urging the President, Muhammadu Buhari to order an investigation on the unsubstantiated bribery allegations levelled against the governor of Kano State by an online newspaper publisher, Jaaffar Jafafar.

In a press statement made available to newsmen by the national coordinator of the group, Comrade James Okoronkwo, it stated that President Buhari should not be deceived by the hollow activism of SERAP noting that “ His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State did not collect, has not collected and will never collect bribe from anybody whosoever and for whatever purposes”.

That allegation leveled against him is premeditated and orchestrated by notorious blackmailer and his cohorts to tarnish the long standing transparent reputation of Governor Ganduje whose milestones as the chief executive of Kano State is unparalleled in the annals of history.

Speaking further, the group stated that Jaaffar Jaaffar, the so-called online publisher has a record of blackmailing prominent citizens of Kano State like the former governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and Sarkin Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi 11. The group queried the timing of the release of the bribery video lamenting that it was plotted to tarnish the image of the governor at a time he is seeking the re-election.

Concluding, the group appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to disregard the antics of SERAP describing the civil society group as working hands in gloves with Jaaffar Jaaffar to discredit the APC Administration in Kano State.
