The National Think Tank of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has called on Nigerians to remain calm following one week shift on national election timetable and at the same time urged them to come out and participate fully in 23rd February and 9th March, 2019 elections.

In press statement released in Abuja by the association's Publicity Secretary, Dr.Ogbonna Sam Onyeisi, mni, reacting on the aftermath of the shift on the election timetable, the image maker of AANI stated that the rescheduling of the elections was one of those challenges and unexpected events we have to face as a developing nation.

Onyeisi noted that we as a people should learn a great lesson from those experiences stating that every country has its own challenge towards building a nationhood in which we should not view ours as exception.

Onyeisi also informed that AANI hosted a reception dinner on 10th February in Abuja for the Acting Inspector General Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, mni, who promised to protect the rights of every Nigerian irrespective of political affiliation during and after the elections.

According to the statement, “AANI hereby urges Nigerians to come out en masse to vote for our Presidential and National Assembly candidates on 23rd February and State Governors and State House of Assembly candidates on 9th March as a way of strengthening our democracy.

“Voting in an election is a civic responsibility of every citizen. It is also a demonstration of patriotism if we all participate in the exercise. Our country Nigeria needs each of us at this period of our national history to develop economically, socially, and to join the comity of developed nation. Nigeria must move forward to occupy her position in the global stage” the AANI Image Manager stated.

“The world is looking at us and other Africa countries and entire black race are looking up to us as a big brother. We should not disappoint them and humanity.

“It is now left for us individually and collectively to live up to the dream of our founding fathers and vote for the future of our great country. The destiny of Nigeria is in our hands and we should assume responsibility through our actions and attitudes” he concluded.
