AANI salutes Nigerians at New Year, urges patriotism

Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) an umbrella body of Alumnus of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has hailed Nigerians at New Year urging them to be patriotic saying it will lead to national development and economic transformation.

In a New Year press conference addressed in Abuja Tuesday by the Publicity Secretary and Chairman of Public Relations Committee of the Association, Dr. Ogbonna Onyeisi,mni, it recommended the promotion of patriotism in Nigeria as a prerequisite for strong institutions and national development in the country.

The PRO of the nation's foremost Think-Tank views 2020 as a year of patriotic test for Nigerians.

In the course of the address, Onyeisi informed on the content of his book titled "Policy & Strategy for Patriotism, Institutions & Economic Development in Nigeria” which was recently approved by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) for publication.

Continuing, Onyeisi noted that the book is due for public presentation in May 2020 and was originally submitted as an individual research project for Senior Executive Course (SEC 35, 2013) in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of Membership of the National Institute (mni).

AANI PRO assured that the most challenges facing Nigeria today, both socioeconomically and politically can be addressed with the increase in patriotism of Nigerians.

Dr. Onyeisi who took newsmen down memory lane said that historical evidences have shown that most of the countries that have thrived economically and technologically are those that have long history of patriotic zeal of their citizens.

His words, “The beginning of the new year has offered Nigerians new opportunity to rethink the way we promote patriotic education in the country and if we really wish to develop this country and strengthen strategic institutions, our value system must include a practical approach to promotion of patriotism in 2020 and beyond” Dr. Onyeisi concluded.
